Previously known as the "Pride of Galway", The Royal Hotel is now affectionately  known as “The Top Pub” -

The Royal Hotel is a classic Australian country pub providing restaurant dining and accommodation located in the centre of Adelong, Snowy Mountains.

The clean and comfortable single, double, and family style rooms feature flat screen TVs, air conditioning and fans along with free wireless broadband access.

  The Royal Hotel boasts friendly staff and an air conditioned restaurant and bar with a wide range of beer and wines. There is also a large beer garden with children's playground.​

Being the oldest pub in town, the Royal was built during the height of the gold rush around 1868.

In 2005 we were hit by a B-Double semi which nearly destroyed the pub. The news made the national headlines and people in the district were devastated by the possibility of losing their beloved Royal Hotel.

Fortunately, the previous owner renovated the Royal in recent years and it now provides modern facilities while retaining much of its old world character - he even bought the bar from the Collingwood AFL team clubrooms.

Our goal as the new owners is to continue that work and make the Royal even more of an iconic Aussie country pub that showcases all the good things the district has to offer.

During the gold rush the population expanded to more than 30,000 people with alluvial gold discovered around 1857 in Adelong Creek   and Golden Gully. The mine was closed in 1914 and the town centre and the mining areas have been recognised to be of heritage importance.

The town is situated approximately 80km south-east of Wagga Wagga and about 160km west of Canberra on the Snowy Mountains Highway (Tumut Street). Tumut, the Shire headquarters, is approximately 19km to the east.

The Royal Hotel Adelong offers guests Country style accommodation in a heritage listed building in the scenic Snowy Mountains.

 Adelong is a small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales and is part of the Tumut Shire. The Adelong district has a population of about 1400, while Adelong itself has about 900 people.
